posted 01/09/2006 FALL LACROSSE offers an off season of learning, conditioning, and light competition. Boys programs are offered for grades 1 through 8 and girls programs are offered for grades 3 through 8. Fall is the perfect season for young men and women who are first-timers to develop their skills and see how they enjoy the game. It is also a great opportunity for experienced players to improve their game and work on new moves. Fallball begins the first Saturday after Labor Day.
WINTER INDOOR LACROSSE begins the first Wednesday after Thanksgiving in the Staples Field House and runs through February. Offered for boys and girls in grades 4 - 8 it emphasizes throwing, catching, shooting, 1 on 1 defense, and dodging.
SPRING LACROSSE is our main season with teams formed at many age levels to compete with neighboring towns. Tryouts begin in March and the season runs from around April 1 to mid-June.
House league play will be offered for some of the boys age groups. In addition, we field boys select travel teams that compete in the CONNY league, with teams from all over Connecticut as well as Westchester County in nearby New York. For grades 4 through 8, in addition to league play, CONNY offers playoffs, jamborees and all-star competitions. CONNY teams are U-15, U-13, and U-11. Grades 1 - 3 participate in a pre-travel house program called Bantams.
Girl’s programs are also organized into house and select travel programs. Seniors are in grades 7 and 8, Juniors are in grades 5 and 6., and Bantams are grades 3 and 4. Programs emphasize instruction, conditioning, inter-town games, and round-robin jamborees.
